The Golden Gate is a unique fortification monument with remains surviving to nowadays from Kyiv Rus times. The Golden Gate served as the upper town's main gate in the city walls – it had a wide arc with a battle post on top of it with the bright white chapel right in centre. Kyivites called the Golden Gate "the sky gate", as every morning the sun passed through it, rose and entered "the vault of heaven". It was a splendid view, and the citizens of Kyiv believed that sun and Golden Gate saved the city from darkness. Located only 500 m away from 11 Mirrors Design Hotel.
